Frequently Asked Questions
Welcome to the REACH FAQ page. Here you’ll find answers to common questions about what we do, and how you can get involved. Please reach out to the program team directly with additional questions about eligibility, applications, or participation.

REACH Scholars are typically clinicians and investigators affiliated with a research institution, most commonly a university or academic medical center, who are interested in advancing research related to homelessness and health care.
If you work in the area of health care for people experiencing homelessness, or have lived experience navigating homelessness and want to get involved in research, we welcome you! You can join our listserv to stay informed about current activities and opportunities, and let us know if you are interested in serving as a community advisor.
Please reach out to us at REACH@cuanschutz.edu before applying. We are happy to talk through your interests and help identify whether there may be a good mentorship fit within the program.
Mentorship matching is based on applicants’ research interests, career goals, and available faculty expertise. If you are unsure whether you have the right mentorship support in place, we encourage you to contact us before applying.
Applications are generally due in late summer each year. Applicants are typically notified of decisions in the fall or early winter.
You are encouraged to apply again in future cycles. We recognize that applicants may strengthen their projects, mentorship, or experience over time, and we welcome reapplications.
We hope to expand the program in the coming years to include community members who may not be engaged in research or interested in pursuing research training. At this time, however, REACH is primarily a research training program.
Program requirements include:
- Attending didactic sessions
- Participating in biannual in-person meetings
- Carrying out the proposed research project
- Following program reporting guidelines and deadlines
